It was a pleasure to be the wedding photographer for Carin and Armand, a wonderful couple from Durbanville.

They chose to exchange their vows in the historical NG Moederkerk in Durbanville followed by a beautiful reception at Rondekuil outside Durbanville.

It was a sweltering day and doing the bridal shoot in the blazing heat was challenging and we had no time to linger around.

The photos came out perfectly though and we had a lot of fun. It was a lovely wedding, filled with emotional speeches with warm friends and family.

All the very best to Carin and Armand and thank you for choosing me as your wedding photographer.

Quality Filtration Systems (QFS) recently approached me to do an industrial photography shoot at a new water filtration plant they had installed at Val de Vie Estate outside Paarl. They are in the business of water filtration and are the people who are going to be installing the water desalination plants Cape Town desperately needs. It was a pleasure working with this neat company that does such essential work.

I have never been white shark cage diving and to be quite honest the thought terrified me. Last week however we stumbled upon the place where it all happens.

Just beyond Gansbaai is a place called Franzbaai where all the boats and different operators line up.

The weather was foul and it was a Sunday so there were no boats operating but we got to see them up close all lined up. Some of them are really impressive and these guys know what they are doing.

Maybe one day!

I recently read in a local newspaper that this coming Saturday the famous Shackelton at Ysterplaat Air Force base was going to start up and run it’s engines. As it was just down the road and I had nothing on that Saturday morning I decided to attend with camera in hand. There was a big turnout, obviously lots of old air force dudes, but lots of enthusiasts even foreign. It was a wonderful experience and to hear those engines revving at full steam like that was something extraordinary. Sadly the old girl has not taken to the air in a few years but could be made airworthy again I am sure. It was the last flying Avro Shackelton  1722 Mk111 up until then. Anyway a thoroughly entertaining morning that included a walk through the plane as well as a visit to their aircraft museum.

Country trip

On a recent country trip we came across some delightful scenes in the Tulbagh area. We had spent the long weekend at Beaverlac and had done lots of hiking but were on our way back to Cape Town. It was raining delightfully (although our windscreen wipers were still not working) which gave the whole green area an amazing look and vibrancy. Here are some pics from the weekend.

I was fortunate to be hired by Power Construction to do some commercial photography on their construction sites and also some of their previous projects including the spectacular Pearl Valley with it’s Signature Jack Nicklaus golf course. It was great to see all the projects this dynamic company is involved in and to be given a tour of the sites. Well done!
