Country trip

On a recent country trip we came across some delightful scenes in the Tulbagh area. We had spent the long weekend at Beaverlac and had done lots of hiking but were on our way back to Cape Town. It was raining delightfully (although our windscreen wipers were still not working) which gave the whole green area an amazing look and vibrancy. Here are some pics from the weekend.

Cape Town Photographers

When it comes to Cape Town Photographers, John Rodger is an experienced and exceptional photographer with an outstanding and diverse portfolio.

His passion for photographing people and his ability to get the best out of them make him an exceptional commercial and corporate photographer.

He also has a deep passion for travel and loves to be in the middle of nowhere as often as possible and naturally his photography extends to these fields including documentary and editorial.

His beginnings were in shooting weddings and extreme sport that took him all over the country and that he still loves doing (occasionally).

I did this corporate shoot in Brackenfell for a company by the name of Frameless Glass that manufactures and installs frameless sliding and stacking glass doors. It is a busy company that employs 70 people and has a driven and focused team. It was a pleasure to take some awesome early morning photos of the staff and various teams.

This wonderful 60th Birthday Celebration at Spier Wine Farm was in honour of Tabie, whose daughter Nina and family had organized the whole event. It was a beautiful occasion and everybody dressed the part to the white and bling theme. The venue was superb as was the catering with a spit braai being part of the menu. It was most of all a lovely family celebration in honor of a very special member as many a speaker testified to. Oh and did I mention, Nina’s special guest was Orlando Pirates captain Happy Jele.

I had the pleasure of doing a Corporate Shoot at Century City for a German company by the name of Stiegelmeyer who manufacture hospital beds and other hospital care products. The beds are sophisticated units with all sorts of remote controls and functions. As always I love doing this kind of work and seeing new things and meeting new people is what makes it such a pleasure.

Their offices are at The Estuaries which is a lovely office park complete with outdoor coffee shop/restaurant in a really tranquil setting.

A nice bunch of people!

Technical stuff.

I used an umbrella to shoot through in most of these shots assisted by a standalone Nikon SB 900. A 910 was used to shoot through the umbrella and both flashes were triggered by the onboard flash on my nikon D700 using the controls on the camera to set the flashes.

I took this photograph of the Kimberley Boys High Pavilion that I knew so well and where I wrote my matric finals. It was during one of my trips up from Cape Town and during a summer thunderstorm that is always welcome in the dry old town. After a storm people drive around looking all happy!

Funny old place.
