I was fortunate enough to be chosen to photograph a Good Hair Day (GHD) promo at Tygervalley recently. It was a lot of fun over two days of shooting meeting tons of people and of course getting to take their photographs.

The Cape Town Iron And Steel Company is situated in Kuils River, Cape Town and is an old and well established local business that produces steel rods for construction for export. Entering the huge premises is an almost surreal feeling and to witness the huge furnace and molten metal forming process is something special. Here are some photos from that experience.

I had photographed Nina’s Mothers 60th Birthday Party a while back so it was a pleasure to be asked to photograph her engagement party at the marvellous Pigalle Restaurant in Cape Town. It was an absolutely fantastic evening seeing all her family again and also getting to meet Vusi.

I wish this wonderful couple all the best for the future.

I recently read in a local newspaper that this coming Saturday the famous Shackelton at Ysterplaat Air Force base was going to start up and run it’s engines. As it was just down the road and I had nothing on that Saturday morning I decided to attend with camera in hand. There was a big turnout, obviously lots of old air force dudes, but lots of enthusiasts even foreign. It was a wonderful experience and to hear those engines revving at full steam like that was something extraordinary. Sadly the old girl has not taken to the air in a few years but could be made airworthy again I am sure. It was the last flying Avro Shackelton  1722 Mk111 up until then. Anyway a thoroughly entertaining morning that included a walk through the plane as well as a visit to their aircraft museum.

I was one of three Cape Town Commercial photographers hired by Credico International to take their Corporate Award Ceremony photos at their grand award ceremony hosted at the V&A Waterfront. All the international bosses were in Cape Town to give speeches and hand out awards to local recipients. The event was spectacular and hosted on a grand scale.

This wonderful Century City corporate shoot took place with a company by the name of Stiegelmeyer  who called upon me again to do their annual shoot and company portraits.

Stiegelmeyer are in the medical business and manufacture a range medical care products like the fancy beds you get in hospitals.

What a great bunch of people, it is always nice to go back to people you have worked with in the past.

Here are a couple of photos from the shoot.

See you guys next year!

Killarney Race Circuit outside Cape Town (well not outside really anymore) recently hosted the Passion For Speed event that draws vintage entries from overseas. Most of the participants are wealthy oldish men (and a few women) who travel around the world racing beautiful vintage racing cars.

Meanderings around the Cape

I love wondering around forests whether they are pine or poplar or natural and taking photos of sunlit trees.

These are some I took a while ago at Bo-Piketberg, a really stuck away paradise that is accessible only from a very steep and windy road from Piketberg itself.

Driving a v8 AC Cobra

This is the second time I have done Cape Cobra car hire shoot.

Cape Cobra Hire is a company that rents out AC Cobra’s, a replica kit car of the original Cobra developed in the early 1960’s by Carol Shelby.

Only this time it was to shoot one of their clients driving the car from the back of a convertible BMW.

It was a scorcher of a day and perfect for some great outdoor shots of the fantastic AC Cobra, a car that is pure fun to drive.

Cape Town Photographer

On the road to Melkbosstrand recently I stopped at one of those little pull-offs and caught some fisherman in the early morning light. As a photographer in Cape Town there are certainly many reasons to carry a camera around at all times. How many times have I not been caught out though by not having a camera with me (and how many times have I not lugged a camera around and not taken a single photo).

For further evidence, see my portfolio
